From an accumulation of business rules to a structured Symfony platform
The project was not about building “a few forms”. Several user profiles used the platform with different permissions, while the business objects changed state as the process went on.
Modelling states and transitions
We began by modelling these states and the permitted transitions. This decision made it possible to move part of the logic out of the controllers and to stop the same rules being copied in several places.
The role of Symfony
Symfony provided the framework for security, validation, commands and asynchronous processing. The value of the project, however, did not come from the framework itself: it came from translating the business process correctly.
