How much does a professional website cost in 2026?
“How much does a website cost?” is the first question people ask, and the hardest to answer without knowing the project. A five-page site and a platform connected to business software have almost nothing in common. Here are the price ranges seen in France, what makes them vary, and how to read a quote.
Price ranges by type of website
These amounts, excluding VAT, are orders of magnitude for a professional provider in France. They help you frame a budget; they do not replace a quote.
- Simple brochure website (5 to 10 pages, adapted theme, contact form): €1,500 to €5,000.
- Custom brochure website (original design, worked content, basic SEO): €5,000 to €12,000.
- E-commerce website: from €5,000 for a simple catalogue to over €30,000 with connections to an ERP, carriers or suppliers.
- Business application or platform: rarely under €15,000, often much more depending on the business rules.
A brochure website and custom development do not meet the same need: the first presents the company, the second automates part of its business.
What really drives the quote
- The number of page templates, more than the number of pages: ten service pages built on the same template cost less than three completely different pages.
- Content: texts, photos and translations supplied by you or written by the provider.
- Features: booking, customer area, payment, multilingual, search, calculator…
- Connections to other tools: CRM, ERP, point-of-sale software, a partner’s API.
- Taking over the existing site: content migration and redirects of old addresses so as not to lose search rankings.
Costs to plan for after launch
The build price is only part of the budget. You should also allow for:
- the domain name and hosting, from a few tens to a few hundred euros a year;
- maintenance: security updates, backups, fixes;
- any licences: theme, extensions, third-party tools;
- the time spent on content and SEO.
An unmaintained website becomes vulnerable within months. A very low quote with no maintenance often costs more in the long run.
How to read and compare two quotes
Two quotes can only be compared if they describe the same thing. Check that they specify:
- the list of pages and features, and what is excluded;
- who supplies the content and images;
- how many rounds of revisions are included;
- who owns the website and source code once paid for;
- what happens after launch: warranty, maintenance, training.
A vague quote is not necessarily cheaper: it simply postpones decisions, often in the form of extras.
Our advice
Start from the website’s goal — being found, reassuring, selling, automating — rather than from a list of pages. That is what lets you spend in the right place. For a precise estimate, describe your project on our website design page or directly through the contact form.
